Vibration Testing from 2010

IBC Vibration Testing from 31-12-2010

At the meeting of the UN Committee of Experts on Transport of Dangerous Goods at their meeting in Geneva (December 2006) it was agreed that, with effect from 31st December 2010 all IBCs used for transport of Dangerous Goods (liquids) shall have to pass a vibration test.

Unusually this regulation will be effective retrospectively - ie; all IBCs still in production after 31-12-2010 (regardless of original certification date) will be required to have passed the vibration test and be re-certified if they are to be used for transport of Dangerous Goods - liquids.

Whilst IBCs already in circulation that are simply cleaned and maintained (reconditioned) will not have to undergo this type of testing - it will apply to any Repaired (rebottled) IBCs that are produced.
