Following lengthy discussions and revisions in conjunction with the UK Environment Agency, a new joint industry document on the Assessment and Classification of Waste Packaging has now been published and formally adopted in England, Scotland and Wales.

2016 Changes to Premises Registration and the Consignment Note Number format

A new UN Category (UN3509) will come into effect from 1st January 2015 for any used packaging that has contained Dangerous Goods and is being sent for disposal through recycling such as scrap reclamation, energy recovery or other such 'non-reuse' methods.

The 2005 Hazardous Waste Regulations for England and Wales and the related guidance under WM2, were revised in September 2013 with a view to coming into effect from January 2014.
